A Marble-made Snow Storm

During our winter unit I have plans for the boys to create a few different snowy scenes. For our first attempt, we did one of my favorite activities - marble painting.

big buddy's snowy scene

Here's what we did:

supplies: small bowl, marbles, spoon, foam stickers, washable paint,
cake pan (or similar size container), & paper cut to fit at pan bottom

1) place stickers
*stickers are great for building fine motor skills

2) when finished with the stickers, cover marbles with paint
* i love how big buddy placed the mitten over the penguin's wing

3) drop marble in to pan and tilt it back and
forth

mini man loved this part

5) you may need to re-dip your marbles
*
scooping and transferring the marbles is also great
fine motor practice

This can be a messy activity.  I was expecting to get paint on the table and maybe a little on the floor. I was not, however, expecting this:

seriously, i don't know how he does it :)

  1. At least one of my kids ends up with paint in their hair or diaper/underwear every time we paint! I never can figure it out either, so I attribute it to being boys! :)

We haven't done marble painting since our candy canes, but I love the idea of making a snowy scene!
