Small Graces

1 - Halloween decorations and funny-silly kids. 2 - Fall colors and the pretty views of our town.  3 - The end of successful season: skills learned, fun memories, and new friends.  4 - Medals and proud faces.  5 - Pokemon Go - it drives me crazy sometimes, but I love how it brings them all together.  6 - BabyZ and hats :)  7 - And that he also looks pretty cute when he's throwing a fit too.  8 - These beautiful dark eyes.  This post is part of series  inspired in part by Bob Bennett's song  "Small Graces" . these are the small graces, little moments when the miracles come... small graces leading me to the larger one... sometimes they slip by without notice sometimes they are very hard to see other times it's very clear when they are happening to me Hope your week is full of lots of small graces :)

What I've Been Wearing

Sunday This is another dress from eShakti . The fun embroidered print has made it one of my favorite pieces.  Monday In the midst of taking these pictures Little Lady ran out to join me in some of the shots. She chooses her own clothes most days and I delight in the little outfits she puts together. I also enjoy that she tells me what clothes I need to save for her when she gets big, this skirt is on the top of her list. Thursday This outfit was perfect for a dreary fall day. I picked up the scarf at a Florence street market. As soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it - purple and turquoise are one of my favorite color combinations.  Friday This scarf was a gift from a friend. It's super light and soft which makes it perfect for wearing on warmer days. Scarfs are one of my go-to gifts for other ladies. They come in so many different variations and it's almost impossible to have too many.  Saturday  This is the second ti

Pumpkin Spice Rice Krispies

This past week has been full of cold cloudy days. On days like those I prefer to curl-up on the couch and read/nap. My kiddos usually have different ideas though and they talked me in to making some sweets. We decided to tweak the traditional rice krispie treat recipe and make something a little more festive.  Ingredients   stick of butter 2 - 10oz packages of marshmallows  1/2 cup of pumpkin 1 t pumpkin spice 1 t vanilla  1 box (12oz) rice cereal tootsies rolls 1 T butter   Directions Melt butter in large saucepan. Slowly add marshallmallows and stir until melted. Stir in pumpkin, pumpkin spice, and vanilla. Slowly stir in rice cereal. Coat hands with butter and create small balls with the rice mixture. Place balls on wax paper and push a tootsie roll into the top. Let cool. Mini Man and Little Lady are pretty self sufficient in the kitchen and made the recipe all by themselves with just a little guidance from me. They were a

Cantigny Park

This past weekend our family went to Cantigny Park . This has been on Big Buddy's list forever. They have a tank park with eleven tanks that kids can climb on and explore. For over a year Big Buddy has been reading every book he can get his hands on about military vehicles. He also has a couple journals full of tank sketches. His current dream job is to design tanks/weapons for the military. Unfortunately, they are in the process of doing some renovations, so only a couple of the tanks were open for climbing. We still had fun reading about all the tanks - I was so impressed that Big Buddy could name and tell me about so many of the tanks' features before I even started to read the info plagues.  Next to the tank park is the First Division Museum. I was blown away with the exhibits - it was way more remarkable than I had imagined! Their interactive displays transport you back-in-time to all the wars the 1st Division has served in from World War I to De

Small Graces

1 - Friendships 25+ years old. Our fourth annual fall-girls-weekend full laughter, tears, exhortation and encouragement. 2 - That those same friends share my love for chocolate and bring it in abundance. 3 -  Chasing and the giggles that follow 4 - Pumpkins, paint and glitter. 5 - Museums that encourage imaginative play.  6 - The wonderful adults who will accompany me and my kiddos to said museums. This day wouldn't have been nearly as fun - honestly, it probably would of ended with me being close to cursing the idea of every going to a museum - without the company of Aunt Heidi, Uncle Colby, and Maca.  7 - New technology...that comes in pink! 8 - Big Buddy lost in a book. 9 - A 'just cuz' gift from Jeremy.  10 - Having a husband who also goes a bit crazy in the decorating department....no worries, everybody made it safely off the roof.  This post is part of series inspired in part by Bob Bennett
