Micah & Tomatoes

This is my first year starting tomatoes from seeds so when our plants became crowed and heavy with green tomatoes I was ecstatic. The last couple weeks the boys and I have been frequently checking on them hoping to find some bright red peeking through the green. Yesterday I discovered some grape tomatoes ripe and ready for picking. I started making plans for how I could incorporate them in to our supper...then Micah came over. He had different plans. We didn't get to have tomatoes with supper. I figured it was better to let Micah snack on them instead of the sticks, mud, leaves, or sand he usually finds. We are excitedly looking for the next signs of red...Micah will soon be learning to share.

First Harvest

We are pretty new to gardening, we've only ever grown a couple potted tomatoes and a few herbs. This year though we decided to go big! Well bigger than a pot at least. We built a raised garden bed and planted sweet peppers, tomatoes, spinach & snow peas. Our snow peas really took off and today we harvested our 1st batch. Josiah did all the picking A few had been on the vine a little too long so instead of saving them for Pad Thai (one of husbandie's favorites) we open up the pods and enjoyed the peas right away. Josiah wasn't a big fan but Micah thought they were quite yummy. This wasn't too surprising though, Micah eats everything! During planting he found the seeds and the soil to be quite delicious. :)
