A weekly reflection inspired in part by Bob Bennett's song "Small Graces".
This past week has been a busy one. It started with me driving my sister, her friend, and the kiddos all the way back to Iowa, where we attended my niece's 1st birthday party and a family reunion. The morning we left I got a stomach bug and then spent that night awake with Big Buddy as he caught the same thing. I hate it when the kids are ill but it always amazes me how mommy mode just automatically kicks in - I'm normally not a kind person at 2 a.m. but the Lord seemed to give me an endless mount of patience and energy.

Husbandie had an exam this week so he didn't join us for the trip and we stayed a few extra days (until Wednesday) so he could have some uninterrupted study time. It was such blessing to kick back and relax with my sisters for a couple days.
Thursday night we were back home and the kiddos cashed in one of their summer reading prizes and enjoyed a evening of free carnival rides. Then Saturday was my thirtieth birthday. Husbandie and I celebrated by heading out in the morning by ourselves for breakfast at our favorite local diner and for a little treasure hunting at Goodwill - it was perfect.
